John Young

John Young, now 77, was 75 when he finally retired from NASA after 42 years. While still at NASA, Neil Armstrong signed freely, but Capt. Young mostly used his autopen machine. His authentic autograph is therefore the rarest of the 12 moonwalkers.

John Young is the astronaut's astronaut. He flew two Gemini missions (including the first, Gemini 3), two Apollo lunar missions (10 & 16) as well as two Space Shuttle missions, commanding both the first flight, STS-1 in 1981, and STS-9 in 1983, both in Columbia.
