Hello Universeby Alan BeanHello Universe is a different artistic direction for Alan Bean. A riot of color and texture, this is a large inspirational piece that conveys the joy of exploration. Bean's impressionistic roots are evident in dabs and slashes of color, all merging to chart another classic self-portrait of the emotion of the artist-explorer. Painted as a fund raiser for the Museum of Naval Aviation to celebrate the Navy moonwalkers, 7 of the 12 men who walked on the Moon. This print is signed by Capt. Gene Cernan, Capt. Edgar Mitchell, as well as Alan Bean himself. Of the others, Pete Conrad and Alan Shepard are deceased, John Young can't sign commercial items while still at NASA, and Neil Armstrong doesn't sign. The Naval Museum is taking more than half the edition of 550. A special edition of 100 will be given to the U.S. Naval Academy. We have archivally framed if in a special step-cut double acid-free mat, gold metallic on the inside and a new blue outside mat with a whisper of purple, not quite pastel, but not solid color. Non-glare UV protective plexiglass. A new style antique gold aluminum frame completes the package.
