BLUES FOR NEPTUNEby Bob EggletonPainted after attending the Voyager 2 encounter with Neptune in 1989, Bob used blues and purples to convey the ultimate chill of standing on Triton, the coldest moon in the solar system. Although seen as a bright object in Voyager photos, in reality the sunlight at Neptune's distance is as feeble as moonlight is here on Earth. An "ice volcano" erupts in the distance. |
