CHIRON'S PASSASGE

Between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus wanders a dark object known as Chiron. It is thought to be an unusually large comet from the outer solar system which wandered too close to a major planet (perhaps Saturn, as seen here), and become trapped in its present orbit.

BARNARD'S PLANET

One of the nearest stars, Barnard's Star is thought to have at least one Jupiter sized planet orbiting it.

ATMOSPHERE

This is a view of the early Earth during a period of intense meteoric bombardment and geologic activity.

Volcanic activity gave Earth much of its atmosphere. The young Moon, spun off the Earth by the impact of a Mars-sized body, orbited much closer than it does today.

STARCLOUDS

This beautiful print takes us deep inside a nebula, where a young protostar has just ignited.

The pressure from this energetic star sends out spherical shock waves, which will collapse areas of the starcloud into newer protostars.

The process will eventually disperse the nebula, leaving behind a bright cluster of new stars.

THE CLIFFS OF DIONE

Joe's newest print is a remarkably detailed view of the north polar region on Saturn's moon Dione. Eight of Saturn's moons are visible along the plane of the rings.

PEGASUS NEBULA

Joe imagines the silhouette of a winged Pegasus in the dust clouds of a young nebula. Very popular.

NEW MOON

A young ringed planet and star are shown in this view. Planetary ring systems are now thought to be fairly commonplace, perhaps even an evolutionary step in planetary development.
