Space Art Original Paintings

Cosmic Cactus

by Kim Poor

Cosmic Cactus, Kim Poor, Pallomar, Saguaro cactus, Space Art, original painting
(1978)

One of my first serious efforts, this large stretched canvas is actually signed "Pallomar," my pen name (my first studio was then on Palomar Drive). As I became better known, the Pallomar name started being confused with the observatory, so in 1980 and for the rest of my career, I used a "sig" to sign my paintings, a sort of stylized logo popularized by space artists.

This was the first and largest of several Saguaro cactus portraits I did over the years. I liked bright colors, and this one uses most of them. It is framed in a double wood frame of gold leaf and rustic wood. Price includes crating and US shipping.

I can no longer paint, giving it up to advancing neurological disease in 1994, so all originals are on consignment to the gallery from the original owners.
