Scott Carpenter was one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, flying a 3-orbit mission after John Glenn's flight in 1962. He then spent a month living in the NAVY's SEALAB underwater habitat in the Pacific. He is an expert scuba diver, and has dived most of the Earth's oceans, including the Arctic, and was a close associate ofJacques Cousteau. As such he is much sought-after as a corporate consultant on both aerospace and oceanographic matters. He is an avid skier, living with his wife, Patty in Vail, Colorado.
