Space Shuttle commanders Jack Lousma, Hank Hartsfield, and Air Force astronaut Al Crews will also play. All will head up foursomes. Remaining foursomes will be headed by celebrities (professional athletes, actors, musicians, comedians, etc) Pairings will be made at a later date, based upon skill level, sponsorship level and availability. The tourney will have a scramble format, where scoring is determined by only the best shots by each group. There will be skill contests, games, prizes, raffles, photos, food and drink. Goodie bags and tournament shirts will be given to all golf participants. A sack lunch will be provided for noshing because of the 12 Noon tee-time, and there will be a 19th hole party following completion of the tournament, with more food, drinks, prizes and awards. SAN DIEGO AIR & SPACE MUSEUM The SDASM is located in the south end of lush Balboa park, in what used to be the Ford Motor Company pavilion at the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition. Ford built a 55000 sq.ft circular building, which it donated to the city after the exposition. It went through several incarnations, finally in 1973 it became home to the San Diego Aerospace Museum, a perfect fit for the premier institution of its kind in the Southwest. The museum is home to many collections of vintage and warbird aircraft, and a world-class collection of spacecraft and artifacts. The late Wally Schirra of Mercury 7, Gemini and Apollo fame was a board member and a friend of the museum. The spaceflight collection is named in his honor. The collection includes his spacesuit, and other flight artifacts. The Apollo 9 capsule "Gumdrop" greets visitors just inside the entrance. The SDASM is one of only 14 museums worldwide to feature an actual manned Apollo flight capsule. The SDASM receives 97% of its funding from private sources. Its projects and acquisitions are made possible through private and corporate donations, memberships and fundraisers like this golf tournament. REGISTRATION FORM |
